Wind Powered Net Zero Future

Clean energy at the core of every operation. At Ushuaia Shipping, we are committed to sustainable innovation and responsible operations in Antarctica and beyond.

Our path to Net Zero

Powered by green energy

We are installing two wind turbines at our five-level office in Ushuaia this year. Together, they will generate enough clean energy to power our building and our growing fleet of electric vehicles.
This is a decisive step toward reducing emissions, in line with our IAATO pledge to cut greenhouse gases by 50% by 2050 and to reach Net Zero as soon as possible before then. Each turn of the blades strengthens our mission and ensures a better future for the unique environments we operate in.

Green logistics

With the addition of two fully electric vehicles for the 2025/2026 season, our fleet is now 70% electric. These vehicles handle shipments and ship supplies, moving us closer to our goal of a 100% electric fleet by December 2026.
Every kilometer driven reduces our carbon footprint and reflects our belief that responsible logistics can power expeditions without compromising the planet.

Circular Thinking

Sustainability goes beyond energy and transport. From reducing single-use plastics to expanding our recycling program, we are embedding circular practices into every layer of our operations. Our teams actively work on waste reduction, responsible procurement, and giving materials a second life. Each action, no matter how small, brings us closer to Net Zero.

Your choice of partner shapes a better future. That’s why we collaborate with Universidad De Tierra Del Fuego and support the transformation of the city’s Circular Economy Center into an educational facility. By fostering environmental awareness and sharing knowledge with the next generation, we ensure our impact extends well beyond logistics and into lasting change.

Empowering a Greener Tomorrow

From October 2024 to January 2025, Ushuaia Shipping proudly led the way with Ushuaia’s first-ever solid waste recycling program for expedition ships and superyachts. With your vessels participating, we created a new benchmark for environmental responsibility in Antarctica’s gateway. This milestone marks not only a first for Ushuaia, but a first for the region. Your collaboration turned your ships into sustainability leaders.

Every operation this season reflected our drive for smarter systems and better support. From over 300 airfreight shipments to over 2000 crew movements, we kept people and provisions moving, while turning over 1000 kg of waste into purpose through our sustainability partnerships. Behind these numbers are some of the season’s toughest logistical challenges. Internally, we implemented a stock management system to improve inventory tracking and streamline the distribution of Antarctic gear, parkas, and provisions. Each step reflects a deeper purpose: to optimize every move, adapt fast, and operate sustainably, so you can focus on what lies ahead.
